We Need Tax Justice for Working Families

Call 1-888-738-3058 or Text 'Tax Justice' to 877-877

Working families need tax breaks, too. Call 1-888-738-3058 or text Tax Justice to 877-877.

One of the items left on the Congressional agenda before the end of the Lame Duck session is an assortment of expiring tax breaks, spanning across different parts of the economy, called "tax extenders". Right before the Thanksgiving holiday, Congress reached a bipartisan tax extender "deal" that would provide billions of dollars to multinational corporations but nothing for working families. Senate leadership failed to include a permanent extension of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) or the Child Tax Credit (CTC), which are two of our nation's most important anti-poverty measures.

Our advocacy is working! Some Democrats in the House and the Senate are severely critical of the proposal, and President Obama has promised to veto the proposal as-is.

Time is running out as legislators try to find a compromise on a new set of extenders. Please call your members of Congress and tell them that this year's tax extender deal must include extensions of the EITC and the CTC. Our government must prioritize tax expenditures that strengthen the social fabric of our society and create strong communities to benefit hardworking families.

Call 1-888-738-3058 or text "Tax Justice" to 877 877.

Here is what you might say:

"My name is ________ and I urge the Senator to only support a tax deal if it includes a permanent extension of the EITC & CTC."
