New! Call on the Biden Administration to challenge court rulings that threaten to send more vulnerable Haitians back to harm's way

On February 8, 2021, after a Texas judge blocked the Biden Administration’s order to place a 100-day moratorium on deportations, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) proceeded to deport a two-month-old infant, 21 children, and several adults back to Haiti.

As the social and political situation in Haiti continues to be perilous, this action places the deportees in harm’s way. The country continues to struggle with recovery from a series of natural disasters as well as ongoing food insecurity, persistent drought and inadequate protection from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The School Sisters of Notre Dame uphold a vision of a world in which the dignity of
every person is affirmed and respected - where individual, national, and international
interests converge for the common good and where concern for people who are poor,
compassion for the suffering, and action for social justice prevail. We stand in solidarity with the suffering people of Haiti and invite you to join us in calling on the Biden Administration to take the steps necessary to challenge court rulings that threaten to send more vulnerable Haitians back to a country which is ill prepared to receive them at this time.

Root Causes of Migration from Central America

Add your voice to a new regional network of more than 330 grassroots and faith-based organizations from El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and the U.S. that have joined together to address the root causes of poverty, unemployment, climate change, corruption, and violence that force families to migrate north. Together we have the power to fundamentally change U.S. policy toward Central America.

Did you know?  There's an easy way to make your emails to Congress more effective!
According to the Congressional Management Foundation, "personalizing" an action alert's message before pressing 'submit' is one of the most influential ways to get Congress' attention. In fact, their research shows that to influence Congress' decisions, offices only need to receive 50 personalized emails from constituents on an issue instead of 200.  So be sure to add who you are and why you care about the issue before clicking 'submit.'  Adding those few sentences makes a big difference!
