Financial support and director’s involvement with the leading advocacy and empowerment organization in the state of Wisconsin for undocumented Latin American immigrants, including:
  • Vigils outside local ICE office
  • Interfaith prayer gatherings
  • Court accompaniment of the undocumented
  • New Sanctuary Movement, focused on outreach to the faith community.  Catholic strategy team trying to build support in the Milwaukee Archdiocese for immigration reform based on human rights and compassion for the stranger and looking for parishes willing to provide sanctuary to those facing deportation if it becomes necessary.

Director continued as member and helped develop a series of immigration dialogues for several parishes and a group of permanent deacon couples this past year; feedback was good and followup requested. 

Financial support for migrant services and empowerment
in Houston, TX

Casa Juan Diego Catholic Worker House in Houston has a phenomenal ministry to the undocumented, particularly those with chronic illness or disability.  Co-founder Mark Zwick passed away recently, but his wife Louise continues with the help of a small staff and many volunteers.  TMO and Magnificat Houses work with undocumented and Cuban immigrants respectively.
